Arise, shine, for your Light has come
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
(Isaiah 60: 1)
Through the intertwining of presence and prayer, the Servants of the Light mission group holds the Dayspring community in the light and love of Christ in a committed, disciplined way. The hope is to undergird, surround, and infuse Dayspring in all of its manifestations with the transforming light of Christ's compassion, so that all are supported in living out their calls to be light to the world (Matthew 5:14a,16).
We listen deeply in the Spirit to the members of our congregation, as individuals and as a community. We seek to know the needs of the congregation leaders and mission groups as well as the needs of individuals. We listen for what God is saying and doing among us, and we support everyone in their multiple roles in the church community and in moving forward as a people into whatever God is bringing forth in our midst.
Out of this listening and communicating we gather the community, collectively and individually, into the Light in whom all true call and mission are carried out, all true discernment takes place, all provision and protection are given, all burdens shared and released, and all healing and reconciliation occur (Matthew 11:28-30).
The mission group meets weekly. After an opening time of silence and sharing, we spend an hour or more sharing the needs of Dayspring and of the world into which our missions have been sent. Then together we hold all of this in prayer, both in spoken prayer and in silence. In between our weekly meetings, the Servants hold in prayer each day the needs that we have tended in our meeting times, trusting in the working of the Spirit through this ongoing, shared focus.
